Communicable Disease

Staff work with local schools and businesses to maintain a disease surveillance system that help the Health Unit keep its finger on the pulse of disease in Webster County. The Health Unit is notified of reportable illnesses such as mumps, ruebella and whooping cough.

This surveillance system provides data that helps staff work to identify potential outbreaks in the community before they occur.

Emergency Preparedness

Any number of emergencies or disasters may strike Webster County on a given day. We are all vulnerable to natural disasters, bioterrorist attacks or public health emergencies.

The Webster County Health Unit continually plans, practices and refines its emergency response plan, but a large part of that plan depends on the citizens of Webster County taking the initiative to prepare for emergencies as well.
